Breast Cancer Support Annual General Meeting with Guest Speaker Amanda Fleming

You are cordially invited to attend the 7th AGM of BCS and to enjoy a presentation from our Guest Speaker for the evening Amanda Fleming, 'Presenter at Large' who will present to us about accessing our own 'super-powers'! 
 
amandaAmanda Fleming is Director of PRESENTER AT LARGE LTD, and her work enhances personal and professional effectiveness, grows resilience, emotional intelligence, conscious communication and influencing skills and generally accesses more potential in individuals and groups. Her style is definitely interactive and she engages her audiences in active discussion and participation using the latest in accelerated learning technologies and brain theory. She is passionate about learning and the empowerment of others and believes in the inherent brilliance in every individual and the 'aligned team'. During her successful and rather eventful seven year career as a front line Police Officer, Amanda learned many of life's lessons first hand. Amanda will also be speaking about her latest book 'Activate Your Human Superpowers’.
 
Nominations for Chair and Committee positions will be accepted from the floor and copies of the Annual Report and Financial Statement will be available prior to the meeting upon request. Tea and coffee and a light supper will be provided - we look forward to seeing you there.

Our regular June date clashes with the BCS AGM on Monday 24 June so we will meet the day before to enjoy a social afternoon tea together - please bring a plate to share.

We will return to our regular venue at The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, 11-13 Falcon St, Parnell for our July meeting on Monday 22 July, 7pm - 9pm.  

The NZBCF and BCS are pleased to host the Breast Cancer Support Young Women's Group. We invite women aged 25-45 who have experienced a breast cancer diagnosis to come and share your experiences, information, and enjoy the fellowship of other women. Refreshments provided. Casting for Recovery

Many of our Breast Friends have thoroughly enjoyed attending these amazing weekends of fun, fly fishing and relaxation.
 
CFR retreat weekends are all about fun and support, incorporating the wonderful sport of fly fishing. Fly fishing allows the participant to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the outdoors and to be in the moment, where all they have learnt over the weekend is finally in practice on Sunday morning. Each participant has their own personal fishing guide for their time spent in the water.

A breast cancer diagnosis has a far-reaching impact, affecting lives on many levels - practical, emotional, physical and spiritual. Family and friends offer much-needed support but often it is the husband or partner who must pull all the threads together, care for wife or partner and keep children, family, profession and life all moving forward. This is a group for male partners and adult male family members. Refreshments provided. The group will meet at dove house at 6pm on Wednesdays 31/7, 25/9. Healthy Steps 2013

Copy of Dancing arms up2Healthy Steps is an exercise programme that is making a real difference in the lives of those diagnosed with cancer. Also know as The Lebed Method, it's fun and has proven benefits for the lymphatic system and overall health and well-being. Participants enjoy six one hour sessions (on per week for six weeks) of gentle to moderate exercise to music -to read more, visit the Healthy Steps page on this site. Programmes are conducted by Auckland Lymphoedema Specialist Michele Urlich at the Auckland Cancer Society, 1 Boyle Crescent, Grafton. The six-week courses are supported by the Cancer Society and open to anyone who has received a diagnosis of cancer. Participants pay $30 in advance for 6 one hour sessions (with three breaks for water) of gentle to moderate exercises to music.

Look Good Feel Better

"Look Good Feel Better is a free service offered to women undergoing treatment for cancer. We help restore and enhance the appearance of cancer patients during and after treatment. We aim to put a smile on the face of every woman with cancer. We are there with support, guidance and free makeover workshops at a difficult time in their lives when they need it most. At Look Good Feel Better we understand that the way we look on the outside can have a powerful influence on how we feel on the inside. With makeup, skincare, skills and a positive attitude, we transform the look and the outlook of over 3000 New Zealand women with cancer every year. With over 196 workshops, across 24 New Zealand locations, our programme is supported and endorsed by the Cancer Society of New Zealand."

YWCA Encore 2013

Encore  Pool Training 136x182Nov 08 063Programme schedules are now available for 2013 courses throughout New Zealand - visit the YWCA Encore site for more information.

Encore is a gentle exercise programme for women who have experienced breast cancer. Each programme runs for two hours weekly, for eight weeks and is free of charge for participants. Exercises are both floor and pool-based (hydrotherapy) and each week also features healthy lifestyle information, relaxation and peer support.
